A superlative setting
Dartmouth medical student Malcolm Schongalla spent seven weeks on Antarctica during the 2010-11 austral summer and wrote about the experience for the Winter 2011 issue of Dartmouth Medicine; he's also visited the continent several other times. The photos here were all taken by Schongalla or, in the case of those picturing him, by one of his colleagues there.
