Connecting minds
New DMS dean Chip Souba
Dr. Wiley "Chip" Souba hit the ground running upon his arrival in October 2010 as Dartmouth Medical School's newest dean, following four years as the dean of Ohio State University's medical school.
Building on the work of his predecessors at DMS, he plans to continue to build strong relationships—"connect minds," as he puts it—both across campus and around the world.
He plans to put renewed emphasis on the school's research and educational missions.
And he wants to position the school so it "creates leaders." He knows whereof he speaks. He has lectured widely on the topic of effective leadership in academic medicine and is the author of more than 30 articles on the subject that have been published in peer-reviewed journals.
