James McElroy, a freelance writer living in New Haven, Connecticut, is the author of We've Got Spirit (Simon & Schuster, 1999; Berkeley Books, 2000), a non-fiction book chronicling a year in the life of a championship cheerleading team. He is a frequent contributor to the Yale Alumni Magazine, Environment: Yale Magazine, Yale Spectrum Magazine, and Music at Yale Magazine.
