Each morning all of the TB patients would come to our TB medication clinic. Here they would receive their medications—it was important that we directly observe them taking the multiple medicines that they were on, since skipping doses can lead to drugresistant forms of the disease. This is a strategy developed by the World Health Organization, called Directly Observed Treatment Short-course, or DOTS.
