The stilts on the tukuls were to keep critters out, particular the hyenas and jackals who roamed the compound at night. Down below this tukul, near the fence line, you can see our little privy, our latrine. It was a two-holer, quite functional, and I was grateful that it wasn't too far away from my tukul.
