Patients and visitors in DHMC's East Mall waiting areas are enjoying the sounds of a beautiful new Steinway grand piano, given to DHMC by Barbara and David Hall. David, a longtime piano volunteer at DHMC, played classic light standards from memory at Tuesday noontime in the DHMC rotunda. "Moonlight and Roses," "Polka Dots and Moonbeams," and "The Girl from Ipanema" were favorite tunes of his, and especially "This Heart of Mine." Before retiring, David, a Dartmouth College '51 alumnus, was a computational physicist at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.
Listen to music played on DHMC's new Steinway piano by pianists Alissa Poh and Matthew Wiencke. Poh just completed a master's in pharmacology at DMS, as well as Dartmouth Medicine's editorial internship. Wiencke is Dartmouth Medicine's assistant editor and volunteers on a regular basis playing the piano at DHMC.
