Handmade Fiber, 30 inches by 54 inches
By Denise Linet
This fiber collage is one of nine works recently donated to Dartmouth's Norris Cotton Cancer Center. Suzanne Lee, a gallery owner in Meredith, N.H., coordinated the project, recruiting artists whose lives had been touched in some way by cancer. Artist Denise Linet's creative spark came from her mother-in-law, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 1992. "As she came to accept the finality of her illness, she began to share with her family some of her unfulfilled hopes and dreams," says Linet. "She . . . prodded me to reconnect to my dream of being an artist. To this day . . . I honor her memory with my artwork."
