Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center Development

Donor dinner a gala affair

Celebrating the conclusion of an especially rewarding fund-raising year, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center donors and friends gathered with Medical Center administrators at the annual Donor Recognition Dinner on July 7.

Gifts and grants to DHMC during the 1999-2000 fiscal year totaled over $23 million and went toward a variety of programs and services at Dartmouth Medical School, Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital, and the Dartmouth- Hitchcock Clinic. Philanthropic gifts large and small are at the heart of these DHMC institutions' ability to continue advancing health care, medical education, and scientific research.

The funds came from over 8,000 individuals and organizations, 146 of whom attended the dinner, which recognizes donors who made especially significant contributions. This year's attendees came from 17 New Hampshire towns and 14 Vermont towns, plus New Jersey and Florida.

Annual Giving Update

By Lisa Webster Drucker
Director of Annual Giving

Dartmouth Medical School Annual Fund: Due to the generosity of some very special alumni, we were able to reach the lofty FY00 goal of $436,000. A special thank-you goes to all those who took time to speak with Dean Baldwin and answered the call to support DMS. Alumni participation remained strong at 40%, with 80 new donors having come on board this past year. As always, scholarship support was the primary focus of the DMSAF. We are already making progress in the new fiscal year. Please take a moment to speak with a DMS student volunteer when you receive a call during the upcoming phonathon on October 17 and 18.

Dartmouth-Hitchcock Annual Fund: This was an outstanding year for the DHAF. Once again, we exceeded expectations, reaching a year-end total of $590,651. This represents a 30% increase over the last five years for the DHAF! We are especially pleased to have welcomed 842 new donors during FY00. In celebration of the year's success, we had a grand year-end gala with some of the DHAF's loyal friends (pictured above and at left). My sincere thanks to old and new donors— you are a vital source of strength for Dartmouth-Hitchcock.

Anyone considering a gift to Dartmouth- Hitchcock Medical Center is invited to contact the DHMC Office of Development at 603/650-4045; One Medical Center Drive, Lebanon, NH 03756; or dhmc.development@dartmouth.edu.
