Elizabeth M. LaRusso, MD

Elizabeth M. LaRusso, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and of Obstetrics/Gynecology at Dartmouth Medical School, and the Director of the Womenis Health Psychiatry Consultation Service at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC) in Lebanon, NH, a Dartmouth teaching hospital. She is a graduate of Harvard Medical School and the Harvard Longwood Psychiatry Residency Training Program, both in Boston, MA, and served as the Chief Resident in Medical Psychiatry at Brigham and Womenis Hospital, a Harvard teaching hospital. She has authored essays about women in medicine and the experience of new mothers suffering from postpartum depression, as well as a review article on the prevention of postpartum depression. Dr. LaRusso is a member of the New Hampshire Perinatal Depression Learning Collaborative and has received a research grant to investigate quality of life in couples undergoing in-vitro fertilization. In addition to her expertise in womenis mental health, she is an attending psychiatrist on the Crises and Consultation Service at DHMC, is involved with teaching and lecturing psychiatry residents and medical students, and has a small outpatient practice offering dynamic psychotherapy and psychopharmacology.
