Matthew C. Wiencke
Matthew C. Wiencke is the associate editor of DARTMOUTH MEDICINE magazine. He joined the staff in 2001.
In those roles, he writes regularly for DARTMOUTH MEDICINE on subjects ranging from outcomes research to the arts in medicine—he also edits articles and does copyediting, and fact-checking. In addition, he maintains the contents of the DARTMOUTH MEDICINE website; serves as the liaison between the magazine and the DMS webmaster on the site's design and navigational structure; manages the office's photographic archive—a resource that contains 60,000 digital images as well as thousands of historical print and slide images; is responsible for the maintenance of the office's electronic index of the contents of both DARTMOUTH MEDICINE and the DMS Alumni News & Notes, a two-times-a-year newsletter put out by the Alumni Relations Office; maintains the office's archive of back issues; and manages DARTMOUTH MEDICINE's distribution, mailing databases, and various financial matters. In addition, he oversees the office's student work-study program—hiring and supervising a team of undergraduates who do much of the actual indexing, archiving, and distribution work.
From 1996 to 2001, Matthew was student supervisor and access services assistant for the Dartmouth Biomedical Libraries, where he also served as editor of the Biomedical Libraries newsletter and as treasurer of the Dartmouth College Library Staff Association. Previously, he held the position of supervisor of the Dartmouth College Storage Library. He has worked for Dartmouth since 1992, beginning at Baker Library as a circulation technician before joining the Biomedical Libraries.
He holds a B.A. in English from St. Olaf College.
